Dying Light 2 Stay Human - Player Menu UI/UX: Items & Tooltips

During the 2nd year of live support for Dying Light 2 Stay Human I had a chance to revisit and update a number of UI assets and widgets displaying player items in the Inventory, Crafting, Vendor and Map menus. New design includes:
- New item rarity backgrounds to ensure visual accessibility, so that item rarity can be identified not only by its color, but also by specific texture and brightness
- Tooltip visual changes: increased the minimum font size, adjusted text colors to ensure minimum of 4:1 or 7:1 contrast ratio for better readability
- Tooltip structure changes: reworked the weapon mods section making tooltips shorter and better utilizing the available screen space
- Tooltip layout changes: alignment and paddings adjusted to make all tooltips consistent across the whole UI
- Weapon image added to the tooltip, indicating durability, and better showcasing the weapon model
- Crafting tooltips received updated craft components list with bigger icons and better differentiation of Have vs Required components
- Map tooltips received new indication for PK, Survivors and Renegades territory
- Journal tooltips received new indication of Story, Night and DLC quests via dedicated background per each

There were two big goals I pursued with these changes:
- to provide a better, more accessible and entertaining user experience to all new and seasoned Dying Light players
- to refactor the UI widgets, giving more flexibility and creative freedom to game designers when they create new and unique items for events, DLC and premium bundles, making sure the UI tooltips can fit and properly display any type of content

It took about 2-3 mid year patches (3-4 months of design and development by myself and a dedicated UI programmer) to fully achieve these goals and close this chapter for now.
Thanks to all the development and design teams for making this happen :)
Huge thanks to all the Dying Light fans and players for keeping us motivated and engaged in this project. None of it would happen without your support.

Stay safe and stay human,
Dmytro
